SPO Redesign Initiative Update

November 21, 2019

Dear Colleagues,

The senior management of the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) is excited to announce we have completed four Departmental Research Administrator (DRA) training workshops. We have six more DRA workshops planned through the end of January 2020, with the next scheduled for this week. We have received positive feedback from the attendees and the workshops have been a great success in providing our DRAs with a strong foundational knowledge of contracts and grants management. The schedule for the remaining DRA workshops can be found on the Sponsored Projects Office web page.

The Sponsored Projects Office (SPO) has recently increased our staff levels to improve our customer service for contracts and grants in support of our continued growth at UC Merced. Our new hires include:

We will then continue our efforts to refine the process model designs by working with our external DRAs and Change Agents/SMEs.

一道本不卡免费高清We are excited to announce the ORED Research Systems Support team, in collaboration with the Office of Information Technology’s Data Services team, will release the first of a series of “canned” reports to our research community effective Dec. 1, 2019. This aligns with our efforts toward continuous improvement of services on the ORED redesign project. The report is titled Proposal Summary and will be available through the IBM Cognos Analytics dashboard with Single Sign-on. Our efforts to build customized reports was driven by the growing demand from our stakeholders to gain more visibility into the campus’ research portfolio and to allow decision-makers to become more strategic about planning and meeting goals.
